about

I have always loved Christmas. I love the anticipation of the Advent season. When I was young, it was the anticipation of gifts on Christmas morning. In my teenage and college years, it was the anticipation of a break and a chance to sleep in. As an adult, it is the anticipation of spending time with family, friends, giving, and celebrating the coming of the King. As a parent, it's the anticipation of seeing TheBoy smile when he sees Christmas lights as we drive around.

The season is full of anticipation, but each day is too. Growing up, I loved searching the cardboard Advent calendar for the date and arguing with my younger brother about who would get that teeny piece of chocolate.

As a parent, I want to keep that bit of daily anticipation (and maybe some of the chocolate, too), but not forget the big picture either. This blog will chronicle our Advent activities and adventures this year. Without an Elf.
